Isolation & Quarantine Update

Recently, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) announced a new recommendation that reduces quarantine time for individuals who test positive for COVID-19 who are not showing symptoms from ten to five days. The Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) and Minnesota Department of Education (MDE) also supports the new recommendation. PSA's school leaders in collaboration with health officials and our board of directors have approved the following new language:

Staff:

If a staff tests positive, we will be following the CDC’s latest guidance regarding quarantine, and abiding by the 5 day recommendation. You may return to work on day six if you remain symptom and fever free for 24 hours prior without the use of fever-reducing medication. You are expected to wear a well fitted mask at all times and social distance from others upon returning.

If you were severely ill with Covid-19 you should isolate for at least 10 days and consult your doctor before ending isolation.

Students:

Prairie Seeds Academy will maintain a 10-day isolation period for students who test positive for Covid-19 or have an immediate household member test positive. Prairie Seeds Academy is taking a more conservative approach to quarantine for students than the CDC recommendation because of the need for students to be unmasked during breakfast and lunch and other difficulties of masking for students.

As always, please keep your students at home if they are feeling unwell or have been exposed to anyone who tested positive for covid. We encourage staff and families to continue testing regularly. Remember that we are in it together and need to take care of each other.

A great way to mitigate the spread of covid and/or minimize the severity of symptoms is to get vaccinated. Here's how to find vaccination clinics near you!
